I did not used to believe stories like this, of the unrelenting assaults on and harassment of West Bank Palestinians, until I started looking at different but solid news feeds that were not making it to the West. I used to think - if this was true surely the New York Times, the Guardian would cover it? I know better now. I also could not believe these stories, because why harass these people relentlessly? Now that we know about the vast oil and gas resources in the West Bank and off the coast of Gaza, a policy -- stated or unstated, sins of omission or of commission -- of making the land uninhabitable by Palestinian title holders becomes clearer. This also explains the otherwise mystifying policy of impunity for those who hit Palestinians with their cars, torch their homes, uproot their olive spellings. A similar incident of house burn by Israeli settlers took place last November in Abu Falah village near Ramallah, where settlers burned house overnight upon its inhibitants and sprayer anti-Arab racist slogans on the walls.
