I did some radio today in the Sellwood business owners anti-gay public statements dust up - offering up that this is not about one Dad but a significant portion of the community once excited about a local grocer now speaking with their wallets to oppose inequality. Now I discover that the debate has caused other voices in Portland, most prominently former restaurant owner Nick Zuktin of Kenny and Zukes to bring heat down on his place of business from his defense of and own words and beliefs on the subject. I received posts from him on the topic which I chose to ignore. Today I saw this response from one local that said it quite well: As many others have sensibly said: Childs is free to be an idiot. People are free to not want to patronize her because shes an idiot. They are free to try to persuade other people to do the same. Other people are free to agree or disagree and act accordingly. AMERICA! Childs is not entitled to a successful business. She is not entitled to zero consequences from her words and deeds. Intolerant beliefs are not entitled to tolerance.
