I didnt ask for the new U2 album on my iPhone. It just appeared there. So I feel I have the right to criticize it. First off, this isnt so much an album as an Apple ad. Give me the choice to download it for free, dont make me erase it from my phone. Furthermore, I dont relate to U2 at all. How can I relate to multimillionaire rock stars? Theyre using a style of music thats supposedly from/for the common people. And keep your hands off my punk idols, even if they might have approved of you. I dont want their memory being diluted by your mediocrity. Ever get the feeling youve been cheated? Is there a way to feel cheated when youve bought nothing? When did U2 turn into Coldplay? They sound EXACTLY like Coldplay. Even Bonos voice sounds like Coldplay. If anything Im thankful for U2 pissing me off and confirming that my punk ethics are still intact. That said, I like their first couple of albums, and Achtung Baby.
