I didnt get to make a Nakba day status yesterday; but I do have - TopicsExpress

I didnt get to make a Nakba day status yesterday; but I do have much to say. Though I will never be able to understand the pain that Palestinians go through, I will do my best to try. And that is all that is asked of you all; when you read my annoying political statuses, or my tweets about Palestine; all that is being asked of you is to TRY to understand the pain that an oppressed people go through. And upon that; act on it. It is not difficult to join a campaign like #LoyolaDivest, or other BDS campaigns, but you have to make the effort. Thats what solidarity means. Sharifah, Mohannad and Rwaida: This year, our campus became a microcosm of Palestine. We were silenced numerous times, and ignored until we could take it no further. We were painted as vicious students with an agenda, though we were heavily involved in other campaigns and issues on campus. I lost so many dear friends because of their inability to see me as a rational person, due to the consistent smears that were placed upon us. We are all people of color, facing our own struggles on this campus, being so. Children of immigrants whos families have faced tribulation after tribulation. I thank you for raising your voice with me in solidarity. But I will love you and my SJP Loyola comrades forever for putting themselves through the humiliation and harm to simply try to get people to TRY to understand. You were the best I could have asked to stand with me in senate, trying this crazy little thing called divestment we never would have imagined could be possible. I love you for this. However, I will never try to compare our difficulties to the trials that Palestinians like our friend Iyad Burnat or the thousands of Palestinian freedom fighters face, or the mothers who have lost their children in the past 66 years. We will persevere and they will hang their heads in shame when freedom comes. Yesterday was a day we dedicate to all Palestinian martyrs and our heroic prisoners fighting for justice through their very wellbeing and health. Tomorrow is a day we dedicate to the Palestinians who will continue to fight for their freedom, and alongside we will fight too. #حقالعودة #nakba66
