I didnt get to make a Thanksgiving post on Thursday, mainly because my Thanksgiving hadnt really started full bore yet... we were still running rampant trying to get things done, get some hunting in, get the house and yards cleaned up etc. It did finally begin for me though with a home-cooked meal at Moms house last night. Today, its official. After running around all day and getting an extraordinary amount done, our family Thanksgiving is kick-starting in earnest. Tonight we werent even really having a dinner so to speak.... but there are about 15 people in my living room munching on homemade chicken and pastry and cornbread. lol. Some friends and family are already here in anticipation of tomorrows festivities, and others are still on the way. Id like to thank all the people that make my life so wonderfully blessed. I (and we as a family) are blessed with more great and close friends than we could count on both hands. Were blessed with family that will help out, and make the drive to be with us. Im blessed to have a nice home and a place they can eat and spend time with us. (I think Id like to be blessed with a bigger table at this rate, for them to sit at, but the UN conference tables arent available for rent this weekend.) Im thankful for my Mom, thats just 5 minutes away, who helps out all the time with things around here. Its just nice at this point in life to be able to enjoy her company. My brother and sister are close enough that I see some of them all the time, and I miss those that I dont. My kids are healthy and Im thankful for that. Most of all Im thankful for the most awesome wife in the world... who takes on challenges like the one tomorrow with a glad heart... shes going to cook for and feed probably 30 people tomorrow, just because she loves to do it. She loves me, tolerates my foibles and my failings, and still goes to be beside me each night and kisses me each morning. Not to be forgotten, and someone for whom I am also eternally thankful year after year - my wonderful clients and the vendors that help me support them with great products and services. Without my clients, we couldnt afford to do things like this. Our bills are paid and we will never be wealthy, but theres always just enough to go around when the need arises. Without my great customers, we couldnt do that and Id have to be out working to pay the bills on Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks to all of you who repeatedly use me and my company - you make it possible for me to enjoy weekends like this, to enjoy time with family, and to enjoy time with friends! I hope you will all try to step back from all the things wrong in the world this weekend, and to take a moment to appreciate the things that are good in your life. Find something.. anything. A smile from a loved one amidst personal tragedy, a home-cooked meal when money is tight, the laughs of friends during a break from the hectic work schedule. Just find something to be thankful for and hold on it it for just a moment. Then thank God for providing it.
