I distinctly remember...it took more then three days and nights to film this one sung by Mehnaz. Being an ardent chamcha of my most respected school senior and family friend; Javed Jabbar we love to address as JJ the director took immense pains to ensure that everything in this mehendi scene us perfect...right from the advise of Bajya to the smallest things which mattered. While I did a guest role in a different track...I was most of the time involved like a unit member...and specially for this mehendi chunk filmed at the home of JJ in PECHS. Some names and whos who of 1973-74 the movie was being filmed....and seen in this geet....I recall and remember are; Babs Chinoy, Muniza Basir, Nazia Hasan, Mehreen Jabbar..the little girl giving a smile on being photographed...., my first cousin Ayesha Islam her daughter Saira Tai, JJs wife Shabnam Jabbar Her sister Beo Raana Zafar , my friend Usman Peerzada, Shamim Hilaly, Shehla Akhtar, some people from MNJ.....and lots more. The food served was awesome. The atmosphere became like some real mehendi and real marriage the way the house was decorated from outside even. Trolleys were used for cameras.... JJ would keep requesting those in scene not to look at the camera. During my weekend show last year with JJ as guest, I extensively talked about this first ENGLISH and simultaneously Urdu movie of Pakistan and showed this mehendi video and both JJ and me went back to the early 70s. The little girl seen smiling is herself a BIG director now.
