I do. There is so much to celebrate today—a historic day in Rhode Island when all loving, committed couples finally have access to the freedom to marry. However, there is something else happening right now. Opposition groups are trying to exploit the momentous occasion to gain attention in order to direct hateful language and actions towards our community. These words and actions hurt the most vulnerable members of our community - our youth. Today, I say ‘I do’. I do promise to take a stand to stop the hate. I do promise to support our community and our youth by supporting Youth Pride Inc. I do promise to raise awareness that Rhode Island’s LGBTQQ youth continue to be at risk. Youth Pride Inc.—the state’s only statewide LGBTQ youth-serving organization—continues to do more every single day yet receives less funding every year.
