I do not do dress codes. There arent many things I detest more - TopicsExpress

I do not do dress codes. There arent many things I detest more than someone trying to legislate what I wear. I avoid establishments that enforce a dress code. So the last thing I will EVER do is tell another person how to dress. So while reading this article, please keep that in mind..... So please answer me this: When did it become acceptable to NOT wear a suit to a funeral. I have attended four funerals already this year and at each and every one I was in the severe minority---I was wearing suit and tie. I saw flipflops, shorts, t-shirts, and caps to name a few. But I still say that its up to the individual to determine his attire. My question...when did the trend start??...to me there are three events that I will always wear a suit and tie...funerals, weddings and church. I never make an exception. I feel its a respect thing. I cant imagine not wearing a suit. And I mean suit. Not a sport jacket and tie. But am I just being a fossil? Should I look to compromise and dress more casually? If so, not sure I can follow through. Its imbedded in my DNA. Easter Sunday I saw a dude wearing a tank top in church! His choice, my confusion. I look to this with a perfect example. I have never worn a dress hat with a suit. Yet until the late 60s all men in suits wore a hat. Felt in winter, straw in summer. Look back at old vintage pictures of baseball games. All guys were in suits..but especially hats. Fedoras, bowlers, cowboy, and others were the choice of the day. So what caused this demise? I never saw my grandfather that he didnt wear a hat. Especially with a suit. My dad never wore hat. Yet wearing a tie and hat never crossed my mind. Now you almost never see a dude in a dress hat. Who decides the trend? Here is what I would implement: -small lapels, skinny tie -flat front trousers -cuffed pants -white, pink, blue, gray dress shirts only -small brim fedora I need big feedback on this...please comment on what your choice would be...and what you wear to funerals, weddings and church..lets have fun.................greggo
