I do not exist in your political world. Im a member of the Realist Party. Once a year I hit on one of the Facebook trends that I have to read in my news feed. Dont you just hate having to buy updated books for school every year or so? Things change. We grow. We learn new things. Well, Ive heard arguments about this immigrant debacle going on and here is the only way I know to interpret it. Then Ill drop the mic and walk off stage and let you argue amongst yourselves. In 1883 a sonnet was written by Emma Lazarus. In 1903 it was inscribed into the Statue of Liberty & many are using this as an argument. Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door. The population of the United States in 1903 was around 80 million. OK cool. Today the population is 317 million with 610,000 homeless including 57,000 military veterans. Its time to admit that there is no golden door. There is no lamp. There is no American way. Dividing what little currency we do pretend to have between more people benefits no one. That last slice of pizza, instead of cutting it in half, goes to the corporations that can hire immigrants for less money creating more homeless Americans whose families have worked so hard to create a standard of living. Our population cup hath runneth over. Its time to admit that Lady Liberty has written a check that her oxidized ass cant cash. :: drops mic :: #yelawolverine2016
