I do not have the assets or the income (or the energy, practically) to create one of these garden atriums. But there are people who do. For me, the idea ought to be made more available for the MANY. Either through philanthropy and good hearted people (who DO have resources), or else through Foundations, and even Conservancies. Or through public funding. In the first place, it really does bespeak sustainability. It also speaks right livelihood, and restorative healing spaces. Think of the effect places like this could have -- for children. For field trips. Instead of prisons which breed crime, build garden atria which restore and refresh. Put them on campuses. But them in malls, and on promenades. Washington Irving wrote about southern Spain, how even still, so long after the Moors, their were remnants of the architectural wisdom. They had these garden atria in homes and courtyards and inner spaces. There were sweet smelling flowers and blossoms, Jasmine and Lilac and Gardenia. They had waterfalls that kept it cook in the hot Andalus summers. Some where sunken (below ground level) to help keep it cooler. There were fountains and ponds and lilies.
