I do not know what the economic surveys say but in my opinion, southern states are more prosperous than the northern or eastern states. I have been to eastern parts of the country and now in southern India. I happened to see rural parts of Karnataka when a traffic cop did not permit us to take left turn some 30 kms away from Mysore on our way to Bangalore from Ooty. Though their standard of living needs a lot of improvements, but still they seem to be far ahead when I compare them with rural population in other parts of the country. And in Mysore, I found people more cooperating. Though they approach you for their own cause but once you say no to the services rendered by them, they happily go away. And in case of any query, they extend their guidance smilingly. Our visit to Mysore palace was not that fruitful as we reached the ticket counter at the last minute and then to the palace which was about to close.
