I do not trust these ``java``, ``oracle`, ``Microsoft`` updates, and especially where a prompt asks if they can ``make changes to this computer``, and disable something that was already working.....I just got knocked offline for a period of time , after saying ``yes`` to installing a new ``java`` and a new [``oracle``?] update..... immediately the phone rang with a number that had previously been [MACAFFEE computer security?] but now apparently was run by another company ( clearly in india) where the gentleman explained that they were ``independent contractors``..... and I just posted one of my rants about the illusion of technological [ ``PROGRESS``] a coupla days ago, right?..... and I was ranting about how computer people are constantly changing things, NOT FOR BETTER SECURITY, but only to make more money....... from now on, I`m thinking that I will periodically take this computer gizmo to a local-owned computer gizmo ``fix-up`` shop, just like getting the oil changed in your car........ and the locally-owned computer fix-up guys and girls can decide if these ``updates`` and `` anti-virus/ firewall protector/ and so on- security services`` are a scam or not........... and in case your care , I will repost one of my ``technological progress is an illusion `` rants in this here COMMENTS SECTION.....
