I do not want this to get lost and not read... Lets also address the reality that most of the Women VETERAN Program Managers around the country are NOT women veterans? When myself, Mary Kelley Richard and others helped draft the Women Veterans Health Programs Act of 1992 - legislating Women Veteran coordinators in every VA, we literally BEGGED the positions be filled by women veterans. Over the years, the position requirements have changed at medical centers to require an MSW. I think that is outrageous in and of itself. It is more poignant that there ARE MSW women veterans all around the country and they are not getting hired. In the same vein, you would think the Minority Veterans Program Managers would be minority veterans. I know that assumption is also wrong. Seems these things would be common sense.
