I dont Thomas Sankara and his contribution to pan Africanism. - TopicsExpress

I dont Thomas Sankara and his contribution to pan Africanism. Never really been good in history. However, my interest was piqued by my friend Gatheru Kagunga who observed that Sankara knew too much even with his humble background. The much I know about Burkina Faso is that Harambee Stars beat their national team 4-3 in a World Cup group match in the late 90s, in a group that also had Nigeria-who went on to qualify for the world tournament. In Nairobi on that day, Mike Okoth, Francis Were, Ken Simiyu and I believe Seleman Rashid came through for the Stars while Ibrahima Bagayoko replied for the Burkinabes. The other thing I recall about Burkina Faso is that she hosted the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations and their star player then was Mamadou Bebeto Zongo. Now you want to tell me a country that was ruled by a dictator could host Africa cup of Nations while Kenya gave up her rights to host the 1996 tournament to South Africa? I dont know much about revolutions but they are all the same. Whether its in Egypt, Libya or wherever they happened, they are just that-revolutions. You cannot support one revolution and argue against the other. Thats preposterous and being out of order. As Malcolm X would ponder, can you hate the roots of a tree and eat oranges from the same tree?
