I dont agree with much that our president does, however he passed a continuation of the national emergency with respect to Somalia for another year, allowing our resources to continue to combat piracy off the coast of Africa. This directly supports not only the safety of our ships and MARINERS, but ensures pricing stability for transportation as it would apply to Asian Imports. Dont take this as Chad supporting the importation of Asian Products. I try my best to follow a certain criteria when spending money. I first choose local and state produced, and when that is not available I attempt to buy products made in the USA prior to looking at imports. I will point out that the propaganda would suggest that we import 99% of what we use in the USA from China. The fact is that we import 17% of our GDP, which I believe is second to lowest in the list of 210+ or so countries that track this information. Brazil imports 14% while Argentina and Japan import the same percentage as the USA. China imports 1/4 of their GDP and our friendly neighbors to the north import nearly 1/3 of their GDP.
