I dont always get a life lesson, but today I did again..not only were the pups excellent babies, but about 10 miles before Tucumcari there was a camper and a truck pulled over lights flashing..and normally I would not stop but I did. I pulled over and waited for a man in a long sleeve shirt and baseball cap pulled low over his eyes could not see his face but saw 3 little ones and a pup bobbing up and down in the back seat playing..It was way too hot for this man to walk and these kids to sit there for hours..Looking at my phone it was already 98 degrees..so he told me he had run out of gas..after I tossed all the puppy stuff from front to back seat..and he had a spot to sit for him. He asked what I did..and I told him and he and his wife and 3 kids were on vacation..he was a ranch hand for a ranch in Childress Texas..and what a gentleman..he told me to pull off at the Stuckeys sign..and I told him it had burned down a number of years ago..Tucumcari was the closest place to get gas. We drove and talked and I dropped him off at Flying J and told him it was probably the best place to get a ride back east..just them Lissa called to tell me they were gonna be 40 minutes later..so I went in got a pepsi and came out..all of a sudden I hear a thump on the back of my truck..he had gotten fuel and a container and asked if I was looking for him..told him sure we got time let me take you back. Dropped him off and the gas can leaked around the nozzle so everytime he tried to put it in it dumped all over him..poor guy..I ran back cut the bottom off a water bottle and made a make shift funnel. His wife was there and thanked and thanked me. I raced back to the flying J and moved a bag of puppy potty pads and there was $20.00..He had acted like he had gum on the bottom of his shoe and left me 20.00 for fuel. Wow..as I was leaving with a load of puppers he and his wife and family were pulling in waved..I tried to give the money back but they would not hear it...I guess I just got payed forward...and it was good. :)
