I dont blog much but here you go....... My sons first day of wrestling practice for high school his freshman year. Happy and sad at the same time, im mixed emotions. I remember walking into a kids tourney not knowing what to think or how to equipt my son since it had been so long since i competed. After a long search and borrowing a singlet to wiegh-in (devin duncans xtra small) and later thankfully we purchased from a kansas gladiator coach(girls team), we braved the mats with a pair of nascar racing shoes (i swore they were mma/boxing/wrestling shoes) and singlet baggy in the hips and chest. Until then my son had no interests but horses and army, which lead me to believe he was a old soul of a warrior.I figured this maybe his calling. After we completed the first novice season coach roger Lawrence EliteWrestling encouraged me to keep him going and entering open tourneys and by end of season we remained winless. Even though victory-less he had been to highly competive tourneys and made the parade of all americans at brute adidas nationals. I knew he had found his passion and the Wrestling bug had bit him, and actually bit me.... now i dont have to coach and basically dress him. He packs his own bag and remembers shoes and headgear. Id like to thank everyone involved and who helped while i been away at work or busy with school. I cant take credit by myself.....coach brandon, jimmy, joe, kenny, ira, marty, dave and as far back as coach chris. If ive never said thank you, A HUGE THANKYOU. My kid is grown up and ready to wrestle the world, but schoolbooks first Quentin Scott.
