I dont get fire management in this state - the hills are covered in smoke and there is no information on any website that I can find. DFES has alerts for the Pilbara and Kimberley (3000 kms away), and says go to DPaW in case it is smoke from a controlled burn, or go to several other places. On the DPaW page called fires to be lit TODAY they give you information for 27th October - and yes it is 2nd Nov. Seems we need to have two hrs to spare to work out where the smoke is coming from. OK so continue as is and ignore it. Great! Except they say the community should evacuate when there is smoke - if you wait until you see flames it could be too late. That just doesnt work - the smoke could be from miles away. I shall keep doing the gardening. I am not anxious about the smoke but I am annoyed about how hard it is to find out what is happening. Come on guys give us one integrated website on fire information - make it easy for us.
