I dont get it. All these politicians have helped numerous people, they come from good stock, they love Pakistan, they are god fearing, they did amazing community work so how can their current actions be explained? Ego? Fear? Naivety? Low IQ? Cant they spot a zero sum game? My mind boggles when good people do bad things. And then the people, what about them? Almost every Pakistani I know voted in the last elections. Now many want military intervention. What kind of commitment to democracy is this? The army finally engaged the enemy and these people want their guns turned inwards? Pakistan feeds 180 million people with a potential to feed twice as many more with democratic institutions in place. And yet the choices have come to same old military rule or a dysfunctional democratic government by those who can make a difference? Is this reasonable? Children make saner choices. And children who have been raised properly, who do good deeds, and are even a little patriotic make much better choices. So lets hand over the reins to some school yard kids. Let them show us how its done. Happy independence day!
