I dont get it. We complained because we had a national champion decided by the polls based on the opinions of 62 members in one poll and 60 in a second, for a total of 122 people. We said that was too subjective and we wanted a true champion decided by a playoff system. Instead, what we got was the BCS, which supposedly was designed to take out all subjectivity (although the polls still made up over 1/2 of the equation in determining the top two teams) and give us a championship game of the top 2 teams in the country every year. Still that did not work so now we turned to a playoff system but the participants in this system will be decided by a committe of ONLY 13 people?! Now how is that less subjective than what we had 20 years ago?! I dont get it. Lets go back to the polls and take the top 4 (or better yet, top 8) teams in both polls and play that off. Or better yet, lets look at state high school systems (ie Ohio) which use a computer generated point system to determine the top 4 or 8 teams in the country. Why cant college football figure this out when the OHSAA has had a playoff system determined by a computer poll for the last 40 years? Is the OHSAA that much smarter than the NCAA?! And not to mention, to have Condoleezza Rice on the committee, what is the point of that? Just to have a female on the committee? What qualifications does she have in determining the best college football teams in the country? Once again, I dont get it
