I dont know. Religion= it must be god! Science= lets find out! Yes, most of you have probably seen this meme ,but really, when the question of uncertainty arises, science is the most effective and logical tool to utilize. The hallmark of science is its self-correcting, peer reviewed nature. Every bit of scientific evidence included in any theory or experiment, etc. is encouraged to be challenged. If you hypothesize that an aspect of modern science is wrong, all you have to do is recreate experiments, analyze the data, and publish your findings in a peer reviewed academic publication. If the data and experimental circumstances add up....you stand to endure the test of time (the collective interpretation of experimental data and analysis of similar/repeated experiments). If a sufficient enough consensus is reached (meaning enough scientific research and experimental data results in undeniable agreement in your conclusions), you have officially challenged the status quo scientifically. If a select few scientists around the world say the majority of the scientific community is wrong and fail to produce enough experimental data and analysis to support their argument....sorry but their opinions hold no weight in the scientific community and therefore are not considered scientific fact or data. Examples of the latter include....denial of evolution, denial of the Big Bang, denial of anthropogenic climate change, denial of a heliocentric solar system, etc. Each of the listed above have been challenged but have failed the test of science. If you wish to challenge the status quo of the scientific community, be prepared for a long, arduous, scientific study, while always realizing that skepticism is the absolute hallmark of science. Accepting the status quo is not required (and despite conspiracy hypothesizers....encouraged) but to challenge it, you must be prepared to work hard to discredit and reform it.
