I dont know how much more I can take...taxpayers are now paying for Janice Steidleys Resource Website okdistrict12.org to promote misrepresentations of Facts and outright Lies!!!! When it comes to her statements reguarding victims and Law Enforcement, this is a work of FICTION!!! If you want to see this for yourself.... Then here it is... by Office of the District Attorney 21 MAY During a press conference May 21, 2014 District Attorney Janice Steidley, 12th district, discussed the multi-county Grand Jury report which clears her and members of her office of all criminal charges. This marks the third time Steidley has been cleared of any criminal accusations and that she acted both legally and ethically while serving as the district attorney for District 12 (Craig, Mayes and Rogers Counties). A multi-county grand jury, a federal judge and the Oklahoma Bar Association have all determined that Steidley violated no laws. “Members of my office and I were wrongly accused of more than 20 crimes,” said Steidley. “This grand jury, a Federal judge and the Oklahoma Bar Association have all investigated and found I have committed no crimes, that I followed the law and did my job correctly.” Following the release of the grand jury’s report Janice says, “I’ve reached out to the law enforcement leadership involved in the grand jury petition to reaffirm my office’s commitment to work with law enforcement on behalf of, and for the good of, the citizens of my district.” In response to questions about the working relationship between her office and law enforcement she says “The perception of dysfunction is just that: It is perception, not reality. We have police in our offices working with my prosecutors every day. Throughout we’ve worked together to make the best, possible, cases in the interest of justice. I have great respect for law enforcement. Prosecutors and police have separate roles in the justice system. Sometimes we have to make decisions based on the evidence that they don’t agree with. We must always follow the law and that’s what my staff and I have done. ” Now that these distractions are behind her, Steidley says she will work twice as hard to improve the effectiveness of her office. The conclusion of these proceedings will give her even more time and energy to focus on what is important: Protecting and serving our community. Discussing some criticisms regarding victim notification, Steidley says furthering victim’s rights is of utmost importance to her office. Since taking office four years ago, Steidley has set up a system to support each and every victim. She’s made it mandatory that each case involving a victim has three people assigned to it: The prosecutor, a victim witness coordinator and a legal assistant. Steidley says “We never want a victim to be missed. Our partnership with law enforcement is critical to serving victims. We receive our first point of contact with any victim from police. We rely on the contact information in reports sent to our offices. That is how we know where to send our initial letter to begin our relationship with the victim.” Steidley says that her office will continue to work to keep the community safe and secure. “At the end of the day our job is to do everything we can to keep the public safe by putting away those who are guilty of crimes and work to create the best possible environment for our families.
