I dont know how this happened... but tomorrow marks 4 weeks in Aus! And we just took our christmas picture today, felt crazy standing out in the hot sun wearing reindeer ears and christmas hats etc haha! I really cant get over the fact its November when it feels like July. The last couple of weeks have been predictably awesome. Im getting more used to the routine and better able to function on very little sleep, which is helpful! Weve now had our clear conscience week and our relationships week. I have really enjoyed both and we have some great speakers so inevitably am learning a lot. Though I think half the learning here happens outside lectures... Its the challenge of living with 40 others on a cramped ship, its working in the hot humid kitchen or doing manual labour on the new base, its in the time we are working on book reports, workbooks and journals, its in the quiet times where we go read our Bibles and pray, its in our one to one meetings, its in the deep talks we have with close friends and its in the fun times we have socialising! So yeah, were being stretched for sure but its all so, so worth it. Yesterday me and one of my friends here decided to hike up a steep hill called castle hill as we had an evening off. When I say hike I actually mean climb, its very very steep! But the view on the top is so beautiful, you can see the whole of Townsville. On the top we had a great opportunity to talk to a guy who was up there on his own and randomly started asking us about what we were doing here and what we believed... It was such a cool conversation :-) Funny thing was that it was a complete chance meeting in a random spot at the top of a mountain, which came about because of being in exactly the right spot at the right moment. At the bottom we had been frustrated because we couldnt find the entrance to the trail, and it delayed us about 5 minutes. Then my friend pointed out on the way down that if that hadnt happened, we probably would never have crossed paths with this guy. In slightly less awesome news I tripped down part of the hill (told you it was coming Cat!) and hurt my leg, but thankfully one of the students on my DTS is pretty nifty with first aid and he cleaned it all up and has changed my dressing a few times so Im very grateful for that! And next weekend we head to the outback for 2 weeks for our camping trip! So exciting! I will try and post again before I go but if I dont then thats the reason you wont hear from me for a while :) Thanks for reading/keeping up with these updates! Love Helen :) x P.s I have finally tried Vegemite and I love it :p
