I dont know how to access LC American Press files, but todays paper has news (page E5) that a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market is to be built at the SE corner of Ryan and 12th Streets. This will be a 45,000 square foot structure which will require the removal of structures already there including Vallier at Home and one of Lake Charles old Post Office buildings, a brick structure which is currently located at 2011 Ryan Street. Also probably to be demolished is a long empty brick building at 2013 Ryan Street. I look forward to an alternative to our Kroger of the Damned a few blocks east on 12th Street, but I do not relish the loss of a historically significant building. I hope there is a way to save the old post office, possibly by moving it to a different location.
