I dont know if All In The Family still airs anywhere. I doubt it, they use words like nigger and such and we all know how that goes today. Were all expected to use childish euphemisms like n-word and f-bomb etc. Using a word that isnt the word but everybody knows the word means the same thing as the word youre not using but its okay because youre not using the word. LOL! But All In The Family really wasnt a television show. It was social engineering. The Producer, Norman Lear, was an extreme leftist. So was everyone else associated with the show. Your politics had to be pretty clear to get anywhere near it. (Dont believe me, research it!) The goal, was to make Liberals look smart and Conservatives (Archie was the only Conservative character) look stupid, ignorant and racist. It worked for a lot of people in my generation. Didnt work for me. I always sympathized with Archie, as much as they tried to make him appear as unlovable as possible. (Witness his callous and degrading treatment of Edith) But I saw through all the stereotyping and labeling the Left loves to employ and heard the ideas being expressed. Usually, the Liberal agenda left me feeling vaguely horrified and the Conservative seemed pretty matter of fact and easily observed. But the part of this comedy I find really and truly gratifying and hilarious, is that all these years later, events have proven Archie pretty much dead nuts right on the money every step of the way. That must really piss them off. LOL
