I dont know if this is true for anyone else, i definitely wouldnt - TopicsExpress

I dont know if this is true for anyone else, i definitely wouldnt preach it as a life changing epiphany for you, but i see so much failure in comfort. When people say i am comfortable i feel it often is because of a lack of goals or perhaps a lack of intense drive to reach those goals. Or maybe the goals are not high enough. Maybe it is the age i am but looking at my friends and other people our age, it grabs me by the aggots that the only ones that have ever really achieved something or are even on their way to being successful, are people that have spent vast amounts of time in very uncomfortable positions. The most obvious example around me are surfers. Mark Matthews (instagram @markmathewssurf) who was once scared of seaweed and deep water now rightfully holds a seat amongst some of the best big wave surfers in the world. I wouldnt pretend i know what has driven Mark but i think it would be pretty safe to assume that in pushing himself to the lofty heights he now flies he has spent a fair amount of time shitting himself. Well beyond his comfort zone to say the least. Beyond surfers, i see people that are so driven to help people, that have decided that a career as a dedicated doctor in poverty stricken and wore torn third world countries is their best medium for doing that, all despite being horribly uncomfortable with blood and guts. I see people that grew up in small remote towns, that grew up with the dogma of parents who had never dreamed of a bigger purpose, who grew up with the pressure of being pushed by all their loved ones to follow in their fathers footsteps that only lead out into a paddock of lupins. I see these people uncomfortably addressing multi millionaire heads of corporations on issues such as climate change. I see fathers, scarred by a childhood of disgusting abuse at the hands of their own father, too scared to be involved in their own childrens lives for fear they will be just like their own dad. And i see these guys pushing through that fear, educating themselves, swallowing pride and accepting help and breaking down barriers and breaking cycles of abuse and being wonderful men. Raising beautiful children with all the love my parents gave me. I see success..... I could go on with these examples but there is no need. I feel you already know what i am getting at. Whatever you are aiming for, if it makes you happy that is all that matters and i would never refute that. I would just suggest however that if in your pursuit of success you dont spend a lot of time doubting yourself, if you dont at many points make yourself sick to the stomach or deprived of much needed sleep or food, or if you dont at some point think that your pursuit of success might actually kill you... then you probably have a lot more to give. I will leave you with this, there was a recent video going around of Jim Carrey giving a speech (https://youtube/watch?v=ajMpfPYlHi4) and within that speech he said something very special. After explaining how his dad had given up his dream career for the comfort of a normal job and all the security it brings only to have it all taken away from him leaving the family to do what they had to do Jim Carrey states you can fail at what you dont want so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love. For some feel good vibes, here is someone that at first people dont know how to take, nor do they know if he is any good, but once they realise how much he truly truly loves what he is doing, that is all they need. #nathansrants #success #life #realtalk #nowitstimetogetlaid https://youtube/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mkn3aLwSrpk
