I dont know it this is true or false...But have a look The West Bengal government would not replace Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor Abhijit Chakrabarti, and if the students are not happy with him, they can leave the university. This terse and straightforward response comes from state education minister Partha Chatterjee. Speaking to The Indian Express, Chatterjee said that the students who do not like the present V-C are free to quit and join any other educational institution. Chatterjee spoke to this correspondent even as the students continued with their sit-in demonstration on Mayo Road in central Kolkata demanding immediate resignation of the V-C, pro V-C and the Registrar of JU. “Why should government change the V-C? If the students are not happy, they can leave and find their place in any other institution,” Chatterjee said. He further appealed to the students to withdraw the movement and resume normalcy in the university. “I still feel that those spearheading this movement are not the students of JU. Today we could see that the outsiders have joined the rally. Now I am sure that the JU students are not doing this. They cannot do this. There is a force which is trying to give it a shape of a larger movement. We will not let them bring anarchy in the education sector in the state,” he added. Chatterjee warned that if this movement is not withdrawn, the members of Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad and professors would hit the street, for which he could not be held responsible. “I won’t be responsible if members of Chhatra Parishad, professors and others who want normalcy in the education sector also launch a movement of their own. We are requesting them (students of JU) to resume the classes and not waste their academic year by this movement. They have voiced their protest and now they should go back to their classes,” the minister said. Speaking on the meeting between Governor K N Tripathi and the students, he said, “According to the protocol, the Governor has to communicate his decision to the education minister (me). But if he does not do that, I have to speak to him. He has not broken any protocol so far, and nor has he taken any politically-motivated step.” When the university’s Registrar, Pradip Ghosh, was asked for his comment on the students’ demand for his resignation, he said, “I have nothing to say on this. Anybody can ask for anybody’s resignation. But that does not mean that the resignation has to be submitted.” While the V-C could not be reached for his comment, pro V-C Siddhartha Dutta refused to speak on the issue.
