I dont know that I can write a wholly objective review for BEGIN AGAIN, without it becoming more of an argument to avoid spoilers and going into a movie blind; because I dont know that it would have been the same breath of fresh air it was going into this completely unaware of what I was about to see. But for what its worth, its a sincere and real look at an industry Ive often wondered about, and makes a lot of poignant observations on expression and creativity that got to the core of me. The cast is fantastic, and Adam Levine even seems to be in on the joke that hes a dirtbag, so theres lots to like there. And I have to give the movie credit for not being completely predictable, even lightly anti-Hollywood, as it makes strides to give Knightlys character an arc that is fulfilling without being chauvanist fantasy (although theres examples of that happening elsewhere in the film). Overall, I think BEGIN AGAIN is a sweet movie with a good message about putting yourself into what you love and getting it out there, which is exactly what this movie is doing. If you happen to get a free ticket to see it like I did, use it; you might be surprised at reliving the glory days, before you knew absolutely everything about a movie beforehand.
