I dont know this young local girl but I wanted to share the accident she posted on FaceBook from this afternoon after she found herself with her fingers in the knot of her lead rope when her horse pulled back. I dont know the circumstances and feel terrible sharing her plight, however it serves as a reminder to ALL of us that we play a very dangerous game and safety has to be our number one priority. Just today I had a woman bring in two horses with trailer issues and I emphasized to her the Danger and Importance of KNOTS! We had several world champion horsemen put on horsemanship clinics here last summer and All of them emphasized and spent time on the Danger of Knots & Ropes, all performed safety checks on gear and made sure everyone focused on the dangers we face. Below world champion Dan James teaches Avery Max Bower a pull-back knot. I wish this young lady the very best in her recovery and wish us ALL the cognitive attention to details and safety in our horse (and life) endeavors!! STAY Safe my Friends. Remind your horse friends to not become complacent (not that this situation was) just that we cannot take for granted Our Horse is Broke or Safe...
