I dont know what I was thinking. Theres no way on Gods green earth that I would ever be mentally, emotionally, or psychologically fit for military service. That entire system of operations is completely counterintuitive to how my brain operates, and I quickly found my threshold for how much yelling/being yelled at I can handle. Something my drill instructor kept repeating was it takes a certain/special kind of person to do this job. You need to ask yourself if youre that kind of person. Well, sir, I went in with wide open eyes and a willingness to learn and adapt, and I can absolutely, unequivocally tell you: I am not. I doubt I ever would be. Todays 8-mile walk of shame to the bus terminal is nothing compared to how I feel inside right now. I dont mean for that to come across as overly dramatic; Im being honest. I need a little while to sift through the cornucopia of emotions in front of which I have just sat.
