I dont know where this data was generated from, how accurate it is, or who produced this graphic, but it is something to think about and verify. Sometimes small ministries can get through red tape faster than the giants! After the great Haiti earthquake in 2010 we were on the ground distributing food to orphanages while the great, white Red Cross ship was sitting in the harbor--inspiring, beautiful, but doing nothing. (I hope these are more than photo ops! I saw the same or similar ship in a picture of the Philippines this week). Tons of food from various humanitarian organizations began rotting on the runways of the Port au Prince airport due to bureaucratic red tape while we buzzed around delivering rice, fish, beans, medical supplies, with money donated from our home town! The Haitian people were so desperate and angry because the Red Cross took over a stadium in the epicenter of the quake in Carrefour and converted it into an amazingly orderly medical facility that they wouldnt allow anyone to go into! We managed with difficulty to get into the facility only to find that there really was no one inside! Not a single patient. Nothing had even been used and this was three weeks since the disaster occurred. I am sure that these organization must have ultimately done some good, perhaps a lot of good--but at what price and at what value? Your local church probably has connections that are immediate and direct. If that doesnt work for you, contact me. I can probably hook you up with somebody.
