I dont know where this post from last night has gone, but it appears to have disappeared from this timeline. Here it is, and my apologies if its now duplicated: Another excellent session tonight! Amazing effort all round as always! TRAINING NOTES - 08.08.2014: [-] Making an exercise itself decide how long other exercises last makes for a good teamwork (or anti-teamwork?) exercise session! One person holds a plank until they cant any more, while the others bash a pad or walk up and down bear-hugging a sandbag. Everyone gets a go deciding how much torture the others have to endure! Fun times. [-] Utilising opposing forces high and low to manipulate the spine, break posture, affect balance and effect a takedown. [-] Striking and pushing with fists to overcome resistance when doing the above. [-] Fence work against striking - intercepting and employing the above in a more lively manner. [-] Closing distance, finding an advantageous position and gaining control. [-] As always, not sticking around too much. The objective is to ESCAPE, not to fight! Cannot stress that enough, though I didnt need to overdo this in the class as everyone is excellent remembering this. Ive seen some awesome disengaging and escaping today. [-] Padwork - focus on Bas Ruttens favourite: the Liver Shot - some isolated striking to the body. [-] Padwork - a bit of fun with mid- and high-level kicking on the advance and the retreat, done more as an exercise than anything. [-] The Pincer Movement criminal lineup: how to see it coming, act decisively and get away. [-] Padwork - randomly, suddenly and unexpectedly being attacked by the pad man! Fun stuff. This class is on every Friday, 17:45-18:45, here in Stoke-on-Trent. £1 for beginners and all welcome! Info is at evolutionaryselfprotection/public_training/ Awesome effort, nice turnout and good to see you all again! Have a nice weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next time! And, once again, happy Oatcake Day!
