I dont know why Ive kept these shopping lists from mamas trips to Walmart. Look closely and you can see that basically they are the same items. My sister T has let me take her lately and Ive learned a lot about her and about myself. She may have forgotten many things but she wont budge until she finds the right priced item. No bargain - no purchase. Bananas and apples must be touched.. over and over and over and over... by her. Not me. Lean bacon is not the tastiest. Almost 2 hours in Walmart ... for the same 8-10 items ... every week teaches me patience, and the importance of routine for people with Alzheimers. Im also watching the cost of things even closer. And as I hold on to mama, Im holding on to these lists. One day, they may be the only thing to bring a smile knowing Ill forever have to pass the produce section without her.
