I dont know why, but just this weekend, I was thinking about beloved personalities I would hate to see go, and Robin Williams was the first person I thought of. It was always apparent to me that his utter mania on camera was a mask for some profound inner demons (and some of the commentary on the Good Will Hunting DVD hinted at this), but this potential insight doesnt lessen at all what a tragic loss his passing is. As his wife said in her press release, I know it will be hard, but I hope the public focuses not on his manner of death but on the many years of joy and laughter he brought the world.
