Everything thats happening now seems big and serious and important, but in the scope of history it is just a blip on the radar. A fraction of a fraction of a second. Think about all of the social movements of the last hundred years and how strongly people opposed things like womens suffrage and voting for African Americans. For most people today, that seems like a distant memory and almost absurd that it was ever an issue at all. I wonder what is happening today that will look absurd tomorrow.
