I dont normally do this but I am wondering if any of my doggy and animal loving friends would help? This wonderful Podenca AURORA was dumped at the pound 12th September this year - this is what I wrote about her for our charity group LAST CHANCE ANIMAL RESCUE MALAGA SPAIN. As I arrived at the pound on Friday Aurora was being dumped from the back of the van by her owner - to say she was frightened was an understatement - frightened of what was happening and frightened of him - with her bottom on the floor she was struggling along to reach me - how pitiful. He said she was no good as a hunter but seemed to think that as she was vaccinated all was redeemed - well Im sorry matey no. Aurora is a lovely size Podenca 25/30 cm, beautiful chestnut and white and I would imagine very gentle. When she was put in the pen she must have thought she was being fed to lions or something the squeals were gut wrenching - luckily she is in pen number 1 with Melly who eventually went so see her. Please lets not let this girl down - she needs peace and calm, she needs love and attention and she needs to know that not all humans treat their dogs as disposable - she is a true beauty - I know you will all try for her xx Since then Aurora has struggled - she is timid and will not battle for food - it is a case of survival of the fittest in the kill station and a forceful dog will get the lions share of the food once he has finished his he will move on to the next .... I doubt Aurora is even brave enough to eat much even if she has the chance. She is a lovely girl, kind and gentle with the other dogs - she is submissive and has obviously been beaten and mistreated in other ways in her life but it hasnt left her agressive. She allowed me to stroke her nose through the railings last week then ran away in fear - only to try to battle with her fears to return to be touched again. Aurora is now so painfully thin I fear she will starve to death in the pound - she is in constant threat as are all the others of being put to sleep as the pound is full. We are a small charity but we can not allow Aurora to continue to suffer in this way so we have decided to take her out. We have raised almost enough for her release fees and for her to be tested for disease etc by the vet but we dont have our own kennels so we need then to pay €3.33 a day for kenneling so she can get some decent food and recover before we then start looking for an angel to adopt her. I am wondering if any of my friends would consider donating just 1 euro to help us pay for her kennel fees? I have made a donation myself for is girl as she has such a special place in my heart, I simply cant stand by and watch her die due to lack of food. The first photos are from the day she arrived - the last ones are now of how painfully thin she is ...
