I dont often do poetry readings, but when I do I like collaborate with a lyrical genius: LOCAL WRITERS SERIES PRESENTS POETRY BY: BOMANI MOYENDA Bomani Moyenda is a longtime Yellow Springs resident and father of four. His poetry explores issues of social consciousness, race and culture, and a myriad of esoteric notions. He was the winner of the 1997 Paul Lawrence Dunbar poetry prize and has performed his poetry in several venues in the tri-county area. He also has a novel in the works and hosts a local writers group. He has been active in the area primarily with undoing racism. CHERYL WOOD SMITH Cheryl Wood Smith is a poet, writer, nurse, and mother of two. She is co-founder of the Creative Energy poetry performance group and founder of the PEACE community theater group. Cheryl also holds an MA in Intercultural Relations. She is a former member of the Black Panther Party, the Dayton Committee for African Liberation, and the All African Peoples Revolutionary Party.
