I dont really care anymore, but I keep watching and playing the game. Playing it safe this year and selecting sure bets, or going with my gut? Last year I went with my gut and selected Emmanuelle Riva for Best Actress. She lost to Jennifer Lawrence. I did go with my gut with selecting Christoph Waltz, while most selected Tommy Lee Jones or even Robert De Niro. Waltz won. Gut won. I want to select Leonardo DiCaprio for best Actor, but McConaughey is receiving all the rave. It seems like there are too many sure bets this year. Will Picture / Director be split? Lubezki will finally win an Oscar. I love the man and his work. Unfortunately hell win for Gravity and not something hes done in the past: Children of Men The New World The Tree of Life. Id actually love to see Roger Deakins win for Prisoners instead. But thats not worth arguing. If anything, they need to split the cinematography Oscar again -- one thats traditional photography, one thats enhanced photography [ enormous amount of special effects ]: Life of Pi and Avatar are two recent cinematography winners that were effects heavy. Those wins annoyed me. Im finished.
