I dont remember getting too in-depth in any genetic stuff in biology, so it was while watching Oprah one time in the 90s that I first heard someone get up and say that you can have Blacks that reproduce a white-skinned child but never Whites that reproduce a dark-skinned one. In the case of the first couple discussed here, the father is White. But thats not the reason the baby is. Its supposedly the gene the mother carries. In the case of the second couple, the two parents are both Black, and the daughter looks like she might as well be a Scot. Contrary to the niceties of the parents quoted in the article, the fact that the children are healthy is NOT all that counts. It DOES count to point out these things, so that reality can be communicated, even if its so rare. It also counts that they are happy with how things turned out, and thats a separate issue. But the structure of the article conflates them into one issue.
