I dont spend my money with companies whose owners spend their profits made off me to buy politicians who work against my interests. I volunteer 75+ hours every week to (a) advocate the rights of vulnerable/disenfranchised populations, (b) to foster voter literacy & conscientious consumerism and (c) to recruit, train and help elect candidates who will support my interests: equitable quality public education for all students; safe oversight and protection of our environment; safe, legal, affordable & accessible (reproductive) health rights for women and girls; and livable & fair wages. Even with all those efforts and even if everyone was doing it with me, it would still be mathematically impossible to vote out bought candidates whove hacked and stacked districts with partisan bias. If the people want to take back their government, they must collectively control the purse strings of those who have bought it from us. I might not shut down the Koch brothers, but I sleep well at night knowing that I am not funding their atrocities.
