I dont understand how Oprah is missing the strategy and obvious discipline of the new activists. Yes, they are more confrontational and yes, they lead more by consensus rather than a top/down approach. We gained a lot from the civil rights movement, but despite what our history teachers may want us to believe, it was the rank and file that affected change. No one would have followed King if he was walking by himself. We remember Rosa Parks but forget Claudette Colvin because Parks had an organization and a behind her. The youth will always be the vanguard. Instead of blocking the door, our older leaders need to roll up their sleeves and ask how they can help.
