I dont understand the big fuss over the Democrats changing the filibuster rule in the Senate (although it does seem odd that they are able to change a rule governing a super-majority requirement for cloture without its requiring a super-majority vote to do it.) Even when Bill Mahi-Mahi, in his monologue on Friday, mentioned what the Democrats had done, and it, predictably, was met with uproarious applause from his ovine audience, he cautioned them that they might not be so happy with the move, given a President Ted Cruz. I dont blame the Democrats for doing it, considering all the obstruction of run-of-the-mill Executive appointments. There are critical vacancies that need to be filled, and it should be the presidents prerogative to fill them any way he sees fit Thing is, though, say the balance of power were to shift to the Republicans after the 2014 mid-term elections. What would stop a lame-duck Senate from simply changing the rule back right before the close of the 2014 legislative session?
