I dont usually post a lot on my Facebook page but today I am sitting here looking back over the last year and marvelling at Gods grace and goodness to us and how without Him we could never had made it through the last year. The first of January 2014 I was feeling grateful for the way God cares for us and works in ways we dont expect. In 2013 Kerry had a kidney stone attack and because of that attack the doctors found a cancerous tumour on one of his kidneys which they said if left undetected would have been incurable within a year. Thankfully Kerry was able to have surgery within weeks and the tumour has been totally removed and he is cancer free. If not for the kidney stones we would not have known about the tumour as there were absolutely no symptoms. God used something we at first thought was bad and turned it to good and we firmly believe He is in control of every situation. Now it is January 2015 and I am again amazed at God’s presence and care. Our 26 year old daughter, Dana, had been experiencing severe headaches for many, many months and in May was diagnosed with a benign 2.5 cm brain tumour on the nerve between her ear and her brain. My first thought was Really??? Haven’t I been through this already? The next few months of waiting for a surgery date and helping Dana cope with the pain I will admit were stressful but with the support of friends and family and most importantly the prayers from everyone helped get us through. Dana finally had her surgery at Sunnybrook on December 15 just before Christmas. The doctors told us her she would lose the hearing in her ear and that there would be facial nerve damage and issues with her balance and that her recovery would be long. I am happy to report she was able to come home 5 days after her surgery. The tumour was totally removed. The facial nerve damage is minimal. She can walk around the house without assistance. She only needs a cane for long distances. She is getting stronger every day and her severe headaches are gone. She is recovering so much better than we ever thought. But then again, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because I believe God has been with us every step of the way. I don’t know why our family experienced these health crises but I do know our faith in God, the support and prayers of family and friends has made all the difference. Here’s looking forward to 2015 and I wish you all much happiness, good health and many blessings!
