I dont usually post links to videos that are shocking or disturbing, but I happened to come across this one on You-Tube that left me feeling cold and stunned. It is people gathering to watch a public flogging in Saudi Arabia. There are no images of the flogging itself, that would be just too much to share. The thing that I find most upsetting is the images of people running to be able to watch it. Not just men running, but children running too. What sort of society and what sort of religion finds that acceptable? The criminal, who did no more than speak out on social media, in much the same way as I am doing now, will receive 1000 lashes. 50 every Friday for 20 weeks. I cannot comprehend how an image of a man with a beard, who might look like a prophet, but there again looks like millions of other men from the Middle East from the last couple of thousand years is felt to be so offensive and sick that it would be acceptable to kill and maim to stop it being shown again, but yet do not bat an eyelid at a barbaric, backward and vile spectacle of the flogging of another human being. Not just floggings. Executions too. As I said yesterday, perhaps those who are offended by the West and our culture and freedom of speech and liberty should relocate to a place where they will truly be in their element. https://youtube/watch?v=ISRaSduJNOI
