I dont usually write poetry but love can inspire us in this way I guess. Interested in opinions positive or negative X As I walked through a mire of grey, the rain sustained the pain. One red drop caught my focus in a descending ocean of myopia. A single globe of pure red warmth, in a wall of dystopia. This red juice didn’t dissolve, wasn’t washed out in the cold, didn’t dilute or fade, it shone amongst the haze. My heart kicked into gear, I was amazed. Rare that such a thing occurs, it’s bleeding heart I could nurse. It could maybe lift my curse. I couldn’t let it melt into snow, it’s purpose for me to never know, so I ran, hands cupped and caught it, I quickened my pace to catch it, felt that in my pocket it would be safe and that I could nurture it, only for it to dissolve in front of my eyes, as if allergic to my touch, I cried. I stared as it distilled into a crystal, it dried my eyes with its’ abundant mystery and beauty. I thought it might be a sign from above that gave me a purpose, a reason to explore what more I’m here for than misery and duty. I carry the mark of it on my palms and cherish the day it found it’s way into my welcoming arms. I still don’t understand why it came to me but realize that this constitutes a part of life’s great mystery. Transient, maybe intransigence has allayed the chance for me to escape the malaise of the rain and the wall of grey. I do not feel that this single red raindrop has left or feel bereft, but that it has transformed or come to rest in a state that I am yet to understand. I may never understand it’s presence in my life but, as if a wife, I keep it close to my heart, ponder it’s meaning and remain touched by it’s presence, it’s effervescence. It will remain the single red raindrop I ever found and I will place it in a crown of thorns to sparkle and allure, to be the pure red crystal that adorns my crown forevermore.
