I dont wanna do an in-depth Year That Was type thing, but I do - TopicsExpress

I dont wanna do an in-depth Year That Was type thing, but I do wanna touch on it from a professional standpoint. In late 1980, I took what vocal skills Id been gifted by my moms genetics (she really was better than me) and my love of words and music, and started putting them on stages in front of real audiences. As I head into 2015, I am blessed to be able to look back on a successful 2014, still grinding out what I do, because its who I am. This past year saw us put two songs on the Texas radio charts, for the second year in a row. As a kid who couldnt get enough of listening to the radio, knowing my work is being listened to on the airwaves is still a huge thrill for me. My amazing band, all of whom are more talented than I, was honored as the Live Band of the Year for 2014. I got to play a couple of nights in front of packed sold out audiences on the bill with some bona-fide rockstars. I was honored with a spot on the bill at Green Fest, along with some of the most talented people Ive ever known. I returned to my home base of North TX, after 15 years away, and was embraced by my musical peers and fans of our type of music. I was thrilled to be able to play my first shows in a couple of venues Ive always wanted to play. I built some solid industry relationships with some solid people. Sure there were bumps in the road and a few rotten apples, that were aggressively removed from my barrel, but from where Im sitting, 2014 was a great year for me, as I keep on truckin the best way I know how, trying to stay true to what I do, who I am, and the people who appreciate it. THANK YOU to everyone who came to see us, bought the albums, spun the singles and generally made it all worthwhile. Love yall. Mean it.
