I dont want to see an Indiana Jones cartoon. It wouldnt feel real to me, and part of the appeal of these movies (especially the first three) is that this is a story about a real person in a real environment, with real, solid sets, props, stunts, etc. This level of realness, or danger, would be absent in an animated Indiana Jones. Id never find myself holding my breath, dodging a Nazis punch, or ducking enemy fire along with an animated Indy. I know Harrison Ford cant play the character forever, and I know the fourth film featured a lot of CGI, but theres a reason why we cringe when Indy is making his way through the rats of ...Last Crusade and feel fairly nonplussed by the cartoon ant attack of ...Crystal Skull. The writing might be sharp, and the voice-acting may be fantastic, but I cant imagine feeling that connected feeling to an animated Indiana Jones. Wheres the drama in watching Indiana Jones be threatened by something an animator can Ctrl-Z out of existence?
