“I don’t know how, so I probably can’t do it, so I better - TopicsExpress

“I don’t know how, so I probably can’t do it, so I better not try…that way I don’t risk failure…or worse…look stupid.” This was my default for many many years. From the simplest of things to the more complex, if I didn’t know how, I didn’t try. Let me step back, recently Ben read an article, and at the end of the article there was a question. It was: “think of one difference in your spouse that you respect and/or value.” This is a difficult assignment for me…because I want to get it right (kidding)…no, it’s because there are so many. What’s that movie quote everyone says, mostly jokingly? “You complete me.” This is not true for me. It’s more like “You inspire me to be more complete.” I can think of a lot of things I admire, respect, and am inspired by about Ben... his generosity of spirit, the way he loves his family unconditionally, how he never gives up, but, this was about that one difference. You believe you CAN DO something. Whether it’s make a new friend, write a business plan, give a presentation in front of a hundred people, or make the decision to live a grateful, joy filled life…you believe you can do it. You may not do it perfectly the first time, you may not know exactly how the process will go, you may even be surprised along the way…you most likely WILL BE surprised along the way, but, it doesn’t stop you or slow you down… ultimately, you believe, you can do it. And then you do. And by living that way, you have inspired me to not be afraid, to try more, do more…and laugh at the times when it didn’t exactly work out as planned. Thank you. Especially for the laughter. And since it’s Throw Back Thursday, I included a couple pics of us. I love the pic of us at Rob and Averitt’s wedding…and I love any pic of us in Kauai…because it’s “our place to just be together”. Oh…and Happy Anniversary!! Can you believe it?! 20 years!! Love you tons !! xoxo
