I don’t like teaching the Word and don’t really get a chance to explain myself leaving being misunderstood. Today was talking about the Sabbath. Lot people want to honor 9 of the 10 commandments but want to overlook the fourth. These commandments are not what Moses said, these are the Words of God. God said remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. We are living in a busy world with some people such as nurses, doctors, postman, military and others who have to work on Saturday. Some people claim Sunday as Sabbath but to my understanding, its’ Saturday. Back when the commandments were given, it might wasn’t even called Saturday. I do know God said work six and keep the Sabbath holy. People consider going to church is keeping it holy. When we attend church, we are not truly dedicating and giving ourselves totally to God because we are sharing that day and time along with others. There should be a time when it’s only you and God and not things. As a born-again child of God, I honor every day and give God praise. I always have looked at it this way until today. Even if it is not Saturday, I believe I should take time from my busy schedule and take time at least once a week a certain day for a certain length of time to get away from everything, all the hustle and bustle of life and spend time with God alone showing Him how special He is to me, how I appreciate and love Him, and giving Him praise and honor for making this day for me to rest with Him. I can rest in Jesus every day but there is a different and resting in Jesus and keeping the Sabbath holy. I am not talking about saying a quick prayer or walking around saying “Thank you Jesus while you are working, shopping, etc. God did not say MAKE it holy, He said to KEEP it holy. There are some people who might spend every day along with God for a certain length of time. Being holy with God is like a marriage. You must spend some intimate time with the Lord including just you and Him. I am probably not explaining how I see it but I did not have the chance to reiterate this to my class this morning.
