I don’t usually write long statuses but the past 3 months has been such an awesome journey and had to share. When I first heard that I was placed at RCRMC in Moreno Valley for my clinical, I was. skeptical. I asked my friend Google and she told me that the hospital had horrible reviews on yelp and on urban dictionary Moreno Valley was described as, The most densely populated area in the U.S. for STDs, mainly Herpes, and people who rip off the Welfare system by committing fraud and having as many children as possible without the means to pay for them. Three months later, I learned is that Google can be wrong sometimes and I should never be quick to assume based on stereotypes or urban dictionary haha. I met some of the COOLEST people here. Since day 1, the staff has been so welcoming and made me feel comfortable when I was nervous. All the patients were patient with me while I adjusted and gave me feedback and advice. During my time there I had the chance to meet people from different cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I had some patient friends who were young as 16 and some that were 65 years old. It was so cool to get to know each of these people to see them make progress and learn their different perspectives on life. My favorite part about of this RCRMC was the relationship between the employees and also their relationship with the patients. The OT department was always filled with laughter and there were numerous days when I was literally crying from laughing so hard. I can’t count all the ridiculous conversations I had with the staff and patients. I had several patients tell me that this facility was their favorite because the crazy, fun, and natural environment gave them a positive outlook regardless of their condition. Now I truly believe that laughter is the best medicine! I gained so much knowledge and confidence through this fieldwork that I can’t even describe in words how thankful I am. I am especially thankful that I had the coolest CI who was fun, patient, and supportive. I probably would have failed this FW if it weren’t for him haha. Much as I am glad this stressful time is finally over, it’s definitely bittersweet. The past 3 months has been one of the best experiences and I am going to miss every single person who was a part of it. -The End. This is a picture of me wearing the hand- made cap by my CI and diploma from my surprise ‘graduation ceremony’
